With our son at his grandparent’s house this week, my Husband and I took advantage of the quiet time and went on a rare date Saturday! Here’s what we did:
First, we grabbed some breakfast at the Hitching Post where we chowed down on some good ole’ corn beef hash and yummy kettle cakes. Then we were off on one of our grand adventures….
We drove through the winding back roads passing beautiful farms and mom and pop shops in search of my Husband’s favorite summer time treat… fresh-from- the-garden-corn. We drove for miles and miles enjoying the peaceful scenery until we reached our destination…Shaw Farm.
We not only bought corn, but peaches, squash, watermelon, cantaloupe, plums, green beans, and new potatoes. We found our favorite hard-to-find BBQ sauce, Ole Ray’s Apple Cinnamon and a bonus find the Sloppy Sauce! Yum!
We left the Farm and drove to a small town near by to do a little antiquing, a hobby of ours that has been limited since we became parents. We slowly walked the streets of this pretty little town going in and out of shops and talking with the towns’ people. Awww, how relaxing.
We spent several hours there literally doing nothing, but enjoying our time together. It was getting late and we were getting hungry so we left for home, stopping for lunch at what looked like to be fruit stand turned grocery store turned deli. We ate lunch outside and watched the cars go by. At this point, I have no idea where I am, which is not usual for me. My man drives and I enjoy the ride.
We made one last stop on our way home because a date with my Husband is not complete until we stop for…
